The Autumn Equinox and its Spiritual Significance
The Autumn Equinox has a special spiritual significance, as the light and dark of the day are held in perfect balance.
In this session Philip Carr-Gomm will explore this moment of stillness and peace. We offer gratitude for the blessings of the year’s harvest, but also contemplate and prepare for the journey into the darker months.

Philip Carr-Gomm led The Order of Bards Ovates and Druids from 1988 to 2020, having begun studying Druidry as a spiritual path with Ross Nichols, the founder of The Order. Philip has a degree in psychology from University College London, and trained in psychotherapy for adults at The Institute of Psychosynthesis, in play therapy for children with Dr Rachel Pinney, and in Sophrology – a system of mind-body training for deep relaxation and personal development. He also trained in Montessori education and founded the Lewes Montessori School. He is now involved in the work of the ACER Integration programme and the Sophrology Institute, and more recently he has trained to be a teacher of Yoga Nidra and Mindfulness Meditation. His online school, The Art of Living Well, offers courses that combine psychological and spiritual understanding.
While his spiritual practice is rooted in Druidry, Philip believes we have entered an era in which we can move beyond attachments to labels, drawing instead upon the Perennial Tradition, being inspired by the wisdom in all spiritual paths and teachings – following the way of the Universal Mystic.
