The Brythonic Tradition: The Old Native Spiritual Traditions of the British Isles

Before we collected spiritual wisdom and traditions from all four corners of the world to form the amalgam of the Western Magical Tradition, Britain had her own, potent mystical system and forms.

Glimmering fragments remain in myth, lore and the poetry of the Cynfeyrdd and Gogynfeyrdd, as well as in some of the ancient traditions, languages and archaeology of this land. In this talk, we’ll explore what remains of an animate cosmology and philosophy and the hints of belief, ceremony and initiatory processes that offer grounding, connection and a way of relating to creation in these times now.

Speaker Angharad Wynne carries the indigenous wisdom tradition of the British Isles and weaves it with ecology, philosophy, creativity and contemporary animism practice. As a ceremonialist, teacher, author, speaker and Cyfarwydd, she explores the territory of reclaiming our deep humanity and remembering a reciprocal relationship with the land, the seen and unseen.

Angharad is Director of Dreaming the Land, a founder of Animate Earth Collective and proud to be a member of the Wisdom Keepers Collective. She is co-author, with Sharon Blackie, of ‘Wise Women’, published by Virago.
