I am That
Who am I? What is That?
In this talk Philip Marvin will explain the essential principles and eternally alive practice of Advaita (non-dual) philosophy. The fundamental nature of Reality and of true identity explored through a spiritual tradition that is timeless in nature and universal in application.
Philip’s earliest awakenings to the reality pointed to were in childhood. He first met the Indian stream of this tradition and was initiated into meditation around 1973. This was through the teachings of Sri Shantanand Saraswati, who at the time was the most senior teacher or Shankaracharya of the tradition covering Northern India. There was a live communication and dialogue through various schools in London including the Study Society from 1960 till his passing in 1997.

Speaker Philip Marvin has been a student and teacher of Advaita (non-dual) philosophy for over fifty years. He has been a trustee and chairman of the Study Society, where he was also introduced to and participated in the Sufi Mevlevi ‘whirling dervish’ tradition. He now runs a monthly ‘Advaita Sunday’ Zoom group and guides occasional retreats. In recent years he has travelled extensively in India visiting ashrams, holy temples and modern day teachers of this tradition.
