Kabbalistic Psychology and the Shadow of the Western Mind
In this talk Professor Lancaster develops a new approach to the mysticism of the Kabbalah through an exploration of its psychology, which predates the ‘age of religion’, and establishes a mystical psychology appropriate to the transpersonal age we are entering. Many of the crises of our day can be attributed to a distorted worldview that emerged from the ascendency of Christianity over Rabbinic Judaism in the early centuries of the Common Era. Judaism became the shadow of Christianity. The core liminal imagery that underpinned anti-Judaism and antisemitism, which shaped an unbalanced worldview and played a major role in the meta-crisis of our day. The Kabbalistic psychology represents a re-alignment between the depths of the psyche, the world, and the divine that honours the sacred in all things.
The talk is based on Professor Lancaster’s new book Kabbalistic Psychology and the Shadow of the Western Mind, described by one of the founders of Transpersonal Psychology, Stanley Krippner, as a ‘masterpiece’, and by renowned scholar of the Kabbalah, Daniel Matt, as a ‘fascinating book … brimming with insights about consciousness, Biblical interpretation, and the nature of God’.
