Marsilio Ficino – the first 100 one-liners
Marsilio Ficino (1433-99) translated and commented on the entire Platonic corpus, and in so doing played a major part in drawing our attention to the ever-present teaching which enables us to express our divine nature in the world through our thoughts, our words and our actions.
To accompany this session, participants will be sent a document beforehand consisting of 100 one-line quotations taken from Volume 1 of ‘The Letters of Marsilio Ficino’.
They will be invited to choose three quotations which particularly appeal to them. In the session itself, Arthur Farndell will begin by re-introducing everyone to Ficino, then participants will in turn read aloud their three chosen ‘one-liners’ and offer them for discussion.

Speaker Arthur Farndell is a teacher and translator. For half a century he has enjoyed the privilege of deepening his relationship with Marsilio by translating his words from Latin, both independently and in conjunction with others.
Arthur has presented Ficino in England, Scotland, Ireland, Spain, Italy, Malta, Greece, and Australia. He currently leads three online courses on various facets of Ficino’s teaching and is always delighted to observe how Marsilio’s words are truly inspirational, enlightening, and transformative.
