‘Meet the Author’ – Mark Vernon
Mark Vernon on Owen Barfield and the Evolution of Consciousness
The third in our online ‘Meet the Author’ series
Owen Barfield is sometimes known as the ‘last Inkling’ because he was the last of the celebrated group to die, in 1997. A close friend of C.S. Lewis and J.R.R Tolkien, they both thought he had the most penetrating ideas to do with how the human experience of life shifts fundamentally over periods of cultural time. Our awareness of things evolves and our consciousness changes dramatically.
Mark Vernon is a writer, broadcaster and journalist. He writes for The Guardian, The Philosophers’ Magazine, The Financial Times and The New Statesman. He has appeared on BBC Radio 4’s In Our Time.
In this ‘Meet the Author’ session Mark will speak about Owen Barfield and read from his own book The Secret History of Christianity.
There will then be an opportunity to ask questions of the author.
