Qigong for Beginners

This session is an introduction to qigong, for those who have never studied or practised the ancient Chinese art and science before.

Delegates will learn a whole form – the 8 Brocade – also known as Ba Duan Jin. They will also learn some of the history of qigong, the meaning of ‘qi’, the benefits of the practice, types of qigong, essential aspects and some of the scientific evidence for the effects of qigong.

  • Please bring comfortable clothing and flat shoes, so that you can participate comfortably.
  • Feel free to bring a packed lunch for after the session, if you would like to enjoy the grounds of Fintry and/or chat with delegates.
  • Please avoid eating a meal two hours before the start of the session, as this is important when participating in qigong.

The course will be run by Kurt Spencer Rowe, who has been practising qigong, taiji, yoga and meditation for over 25 years. Kurt has received training from English teachers and predominantly from a Chinese Taiji master in Wudang, China where he attends month-long sabbaticals for instruction in qigong, taiji and Taoist philosophy.

If you have any further queries about the course content, how it is run and/or Kurt, feel free to contact him directly on his personal email address:

Cost: £18 (all proceeds go to the Fintry Trust)
