‘The Golden Verses’ as a Guide to Practical Wisdom
The Golden Verses are a set of maxims attributed to the followers of the ancient philosopher Pythagoras.
Although the verses emerged hundreds of years after Pythagoras’ time, they nevertheless are a practical guide to a life devoted to wisdom as taught by the philosopher himself.
They offer a vision of a harmonious cosmos and describe how to live a wise, philosophical life in kinship with that cosmos, unfolding its pattern within our consciousness, and thus adding our own share of goodness, truth and beauty to the whole.
The Golden Verses of the Pythagoreans is one of our best-selling publications, and participants will receive a free copy of the book included in their registration fee.
The day will be led by Julie Parker, Manager of the Fintry Trust and Co-ordinator of the Lifelong Learning Programme. She has been organising, writing and teaching courses for the Trust since 1998, and was previously Vice Principal of an FE specialist language college in Kent.
