Theophanies: The Divine Names and The Angelic Hierarchies of Dionysius the Areopagite with Julie Parker (4 sessions)

The writings of Dionysius the Areopagite are a sincere attempt to give expression to the mystery of the Unmanifest yet Manifest Divine Nature. They describe both the apophatic way, which seeks the Divine through a consideration of what It is not, and the complementary kataphatic way, which rejoices in the revelation of what It is.

This course will explore the second way, tracing its unfolding in two of Dionysius’ works: The Divine Names and The Angelic Hierarchies, and in those of other mystical writers.
