What is the Reason for Human Beings? with Vicky Wallace
The answer to this question can be found through the profound and demanding journey of self-discovery as expounded in the writings of Plato and the later Platonic philosophers. The talk will focus on how reason, and its power within the soul, is the link between the eternal and temporal realms of reality, and is essential to understand, if we are to live well and wisely in this beautiful world.
Vicky Wallace discovered Buddhism as a young student in the late ‘60s, and this early experience inspired the desire to penetrate the depths of faith, truth and wisdom, and to discover how one can bring together the two wings of mind and heart, theory and practice, understanding and experience. The last twenty years have been more intensively dedicated to philosophy and that of the Platonic tradition. She now lives partly in Greece, the birthplace of Western philosophy, on the Peloponnese, where she runs a retreat centre, The Artemis Estate, whose purpose is to provide a refuge for reflection, inspiration, and devotion, with the assistance of the powerful Mediterranean elements.
