October Event Report

1 Nov, 2019

Rupert Sheldrake: The Fintry Trust hosted a talk by Rupert Sheldrake at Arnos Vale in Bristol on the theme of ‘Reuniting Science and Spirituality for the Wellbeing of People and Planet’. It was a good turnout with about 100 people attending, and a high proportion of young people.

Rupert gave an excellent talk drawing on ideas from his recent books Science and Spiritual Practice and Ways to Go Beyond and Why they Work. He presented evidence-based research on how ways of reconnecting to ‘the more than human world’, through gratitude, meditation, prayer, singing, rituals, fasting, pilgrimage and even learning from animals and sport, can help people lead happier and healthier lives and live more fully in the present.

There were some great questions at the end such as: what’s the future of spirituality? how do such practices help the world? does mobile technology such as 5G interfere with our consciousness? The session was recorded so it will be made available for wider access soon. Read more.

Yoga Retreat: Louisa Burtwell and Charlotte Preston led a successful restorative yoga retreat at Fintry 25th -27th October.
